The National Oil Corporation and Akakus Oil Operations Company discuss the current security situation in Al-Sharara field

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Mustafa Sanalla, met today, Wednesday, 10th of June 2020, at the headquarters of the National Oil Corporation “NOC” in Tripoli, with the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Akakos Oil Operations Company, Mr. Nouri Al-Seid, in the presence of the members of the Board of Directors, Mr. Abulgasem Shengher and Mr Elamari M. Elamari.
 
During the meeting, the safety of workers and the current security conditions in the oil field of Al-Sharara were discussed in light of the deteriorating security conditions at the field and the entry of dozens of armed men with weapons and ammunition, some of them were intoxicated , in a flagrant violation of the precautionary measures of the Corona pandemic , Also developments were discussed regarding the suspension of production operations carried out under the chaotic armed gunmen, under command of the so-called 166 battalion .
 
In this regard, the Chairman of the Board, Eng. Mustafa Sanalla, commented: “Our workers were coerced to suspend production, which forced us to announce the  state of force majeure, and this comes in order to maintain the safety of our workers in the first place.
Although the restart of production is prerequisite in order to save what can be saved of the infrastructure that collapses under the NOC  and   people’s watch and by a rogue group pretending   to protect  the country, and despite the importance of saving t he national  economy from further deterioration due to the loss of selling opportunities that are gone forever which exceeded five billion and four hundred million US dollars as a result of these unjust closings, but the safety of our workers in all fields, locations and oil ports remains a top priority.
 
To conclude the meeting, the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors stressed that the National Oil Corporation has taken all the necessary legal measures to pursue the outlaws, and the perpetrators of these unjust deeds will receive their punishment
