NOC inspects implementation of Al Wahat sustainable development projects

A senior delegation from National Oil Corporation (NOC) visited Jalo and Jikharra in Libya’s Al Wahat region on January 30, 2019, to inspect the progress of various sustainable development programmes supported by NOC. These include:
•Construction of buildings at Jalo’s faculty of engineering:
•Maintenance of the Jalo-Ijdabia road;
•Delivery of a fire truck to the National Safety Authority in Al Wahat dedicated to the Jalo Municipality, in addition to ten high capacity water pumps;
•Provision of integrated classrooms and supply of solar and renewable energy equipment to the Higher Institute of Petroleum in Jikharra – supported by NOC, in partnership with Austrian company OMV.

These regular inspection visits help ensure the proper implementation of NOC’s sustainable development programmes to support oil hosting communities across Libya, both in terms of delivery, and the transparent use of financing.

The delegation was led by Eng. Khaled Bukhtwa, general manager of NOC’s Safety, Security, Environment and Sustainable Development department, joined by Dr Shuaib Al Ameen, mayor of the Jalo municipality, Mr Juma Shita, deputy director of OMV Libya, Brigadier Abdulaziz Al Arfi, head of the National Security Authority of the Eastern Region, and Colonel Abdulhafidh Al Abani, Head of of the National Security Authority of Al Wahat, in addition to programme specialists in NOC’s sustainable development department.
