NOC Chairman discusses joint cooperation in energy sector with Dutch Ambassador
Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Eng. Mustafa Sanalla, welcomed His Excellency Lars Tummers, Dutch Ambassador to Libya, on December 19, 2018, at NOC’s Tripoli headquarters to discuss enhanced cooperation between NOC and Dutch energy companies.
Sanalla welcomed the prospect of Dutch companies, particularly Royal Dutch Shell, returning to Libya and their potential impact on Libyan oil sector development. “We are seeking to expand our cooperation with Dutch energy companies, renowned for their long-standing expertise in the oil and gas industry – particularly in the fields of exploration and development.”
Ambassador Tummers commended NOC on its recent success despite ongoing national challenges, highlighting his country’s full support of the corporation.
Parties also discussed the situation at the Sharara. Chairman Sanalla underlined the importance of adherence to the rule of law and improved operational security, pointing out that NOC’s top priority is the safety of its staff. The chairman stressed NOC’s support for the legitimate grievances of southern communities concerning economic opportunity and basic services, briefing the Ambassador on the company’s ongoing work to support local communities in the South. Sanalla reaffirmed his condemnation of illegal attempts by the armed group occupying the field to blackmail the government and intimidate NOC workers.
The meeting was also attended by Mr Salah Ben Ali, manager of NOC’s International Cooperation Office.
