NOC Chairman discusses consequences of blockade with senior US officials in Washington

NOC Chairman Eng Mustafa Sanalla met with senior US officials in Washington DC on Monday and Tuesday, February 10 and 11, 2020, to discuss the humanitarian and financial consequences of the continuing blockade of Libyan oil production.

Eng Sanalla met with Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of International Affairs at the Energy Department Matthew Zais, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Energy Resources Kurt Donnelly, and Deputy National Security Advisor Victoria Coates.

“The US has the power to make a decisive difference in Libya, and its leadership understands the humanitarian impact the blockade is having on ordinary people,” said Eng Sanalla. “We are all agreed on the need to reach a sustainable solution so that what we face today can never happen again.”
