National Oil Corporation receives second shipment of BTNX Covid-19 Antigen Rapid test as a contribution from Canada’s Suncor

As part of the efforts of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) to support the health sector in the Libyan state to cope with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Sustainable Development of the NOC received on Monday, 08 February 2021 a quantity of rapid tests BTNX Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test as a contribution from Canada’s Suncor to help track the spread of the Covid-19 virus, reduce its spread and facilitate testing for the oil sector workers after production returns and intensive movement to and from fields, oil ports, depots and offshore platforms.
 
 
In the coming days, the Department of Sustainable Development and the Department of Health, Safety and Environment of the NOC will begin distributing this test to oil companies and other affiliates.
 
The Manager of the Department of Sustainable Development at the National Oil Corporation explained that this test was provided by the institution after taking technical opinion and consultation with the competent health authorities of the Libyan state such as the reference laboratory and the Center for Bioresearch Technologies, which conducted experiments on this type of rapid testing and the results were very good, also this type of testing will contribute to reduce the costs of conducting surveys to detect covid-19 significantly due to the low price as well as flexibility and ease of use, adding that the top management of the NOC recommended the allocation of quantities of this shipment for the benefit of areas adjacent to fields, ports and oil sites in coordination with the competent health authorities in those areas.
