In their meeting with the NOC’s Chairman… the Wise Men of Benghazi confirm their support for the NOC and the need for the remainder of the Libyan institutions to follow its example in implementing the principle of transparency
The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Mustafa Sanalla, met on Monday afternoon, April 26, 2021, at the headquarters of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company, with the Council of Benghazi Notables and Wise Men in the presence of Messrs. Jadalla Al-Awkali, Member of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Fadlalla Ahtita, Chairman of the Management Committee of Arabian Gulf Oil Company, Masoud Suleiman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sirte Oil and Gas Company and Shaaban Ibsiso, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ras Lanuf Oil and Gas Processing Company.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Directors briefed the Council of Benghazi Notables and Wise Men about the challenges facing the oil sector and what NOC has done to maintain production levels despite the scarcity of budgets and difficult conditions that the sector suffered from, as well as the contributions made by the National Oil Corporation to support the areas adjacent to its operations.
For their part, the gentlemen of the Council of Benghazi Notables and Wise Men commended the typically professional, technical and non-political role of NOC, explaining that this pioneering and well-established Corporation must be kept away from any political tensions as it represents the backbone of the Libyan economy and they called for its support with the required budgets. The gentlemen of the Council of Benghazi Notables and Wise Men also asked some questions and made inquiries about the current situation of the oil and gas sector, NOC future plans for its advancement and development and the challenges and difficulties it faces, which Eng. Sanalla answered extensively, indicating that with NOC obtaining the required budgets, this will enable it to overcome most of the challenges and obstacles and promote development in the country.
The Notables and the Wise Men expressed their absolute support for the National Oil Corporation for continuing the oil flow. They also demanded more transparency in the disbursement of funds and the fair use of the oil wealth in all regions of Libya without discrimination and not to waste this blessing that God granted to the whole Libyan people.
The Notables and the Wise Men added that all parties in the State of Libya should follow the example of the National Oil Corporation in implementing the principle of transparency.
