In his meeting with the Head of the Union of Oil and Gas Workers … Mr. Chairman of the Board of Directors asserts: “We’re going in the right direction”

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Eng. Mustafa Sanalla, met on Monday April 26, 2021, at the headquarters of the Arabian Gulf Oil Company in Benghazi, with the Head of the Union of Oil and Gas Workers, Mr. Saad Dinar Al-Fakhri, in the presence of Messrs. Jadalla Al-Awkali, Member of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Fadlalla Ahtita,  Chairman of the Management Committee of Arabian Gulf Oil Company, Masoud Suleiman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of  Sirte Oil and Gas  Company and Shaaban Ibsiso, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ras Lanuf Oil and Gas Processing Company. 
 
The attendees discussed the demands of workers in the oil sector extensively, which included improving health services, salaries, training and many issues and matters of interest to all oil and gas sector employees.
 
Eng. Sanalla briefed the Head of the Union of Oil and Gas Workers on the difficulties and challenges facing the National Oil Corporation and its subsidiaries. He also informed him of the Government of National Unity’s decision to disburse part of the budgets that NOC needs, explaining that by disbursing the required budgets and financial resources, the situation will improve significantly and NOC  and its affiliates will be able to overcome all difficulties, solve all problems, fulfill their contractual obligations, and revive the state treasury with hard currency, stressing that NOC is striving to improve all services that employees of the oil and gas sector receive on the entire Libyan territories.
 
During the meeting, it was also agreed that the National Oil Corporation would follow up with the Government of National Unity the issue of improving the salaries of oil and gas sector’s workers, which is related to the implementation of Resolution No. (642).
 
Regarding the health insurance aspect, Eng. Sanalla said: “Once the required budgets are obtained, medical services will be improved for all workers in the sector and in my name and on behalf of my colleagues, Members of NOC’s Board of Directors, we confirm that caring for the health and safety of our workers in the oil sector is our top priority as the human individual is the basis of the production process and they are the real capital for us.  I am delighted and proud of all that our honorable workers have provided in various fields, ports and oil sites for the sake of Libya. I ask God Almighty to protect them all and guide them to the right way.”
 
As for the training, all aspects related to it were discussed and it was agreed to prepare plans for training programs for the next year to develop and improve the efficiency of the sector’s employees, as Eng. Sanalla stated regarding the training plan aspect, that it has been decided that any employee will keep his training plan for which he/she was nominated in case that they moved to another company, indicating that the employees of the oil and gas sector have made the supreme sacrifice  for the sake of continuing production and pumping of oil, despite the very difficult conditions that the oil sector has faced over the past ten years. He affirmed that NOC’s Board of Directors will continue to stand by and support all workers, and that developing, training and enhancing the efficiency of the sector’s employees is one of the main goals that NOC seeks to achieve.
 
For his part, the Head of the Union of Oil and Gas Workers, Mr. Saad Dinar, praised the great and exceptional efforts made by the National Oil Corporation to preserve the sustenance of the Libyan people and future generations, and affirmed that he hails the solidity and cohesion of the NOC’s Board of Directors and the wisdom that has always been present to give priority to the nation’s interest in all the circumstances and misfortunes that the sector has been through over the past years. He also indicated that NOC’s role in the stability of the homeland is technical and technological and it is not political at all. Mr. Saad Dinar also welcomed the assignment of Mr. Rifat Al-Abbar as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas, wishing him all success in his new duty. He explained that by solidarity and unification of all efforts the future will be better, God Almighty willing.
