On the sixtieth anniversary of the export of the first shipment of Libyan oil to the world on October 25, 1961, the National Oil Corporation celebrated this day by adopting the ownership transfer measurement system for crude oil exports after the success of on-site tests conducted during the past few days under the supervision of the General Administration of Inspection and Measurement of the National Oil Corporation.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanalla, congratulated workers in the oil sector on this anniversary. Sanalla made a phone call to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Processing Company, during the celebrations being held at the company’s headquarters in the Brega oil marina.

Sanalla made clear that on October 25, 1961, the good King Idris Al-Senussi inaugurated the first shipment of Libyan crude, helping Libya to join the oil-producing and exporting countries. This sector is the backbone of the Libyan economy and will remain cohesive and full of high potential with big reserves of oil and gas. Budgets are needed and determination is high as we rely on the expertise of this sector.

The meeting was also attended by a member of the Board of Directors of the NOC, Muhammad Al-Ammari who also indicated through a phone call that the export of the first shipment had changed the course of life in Libya in terms of changing the nature of Libyan income and that we, as the National Oil Corporation, are continuing on the same path.
The General Manager of the General Administration of Inspection and Measurement read out the final letter of accreditation for the measurement system, based on the Libyan Measurement Guide approved by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NOC, No. 92 on October 25, 2020, on the 59th anniversary during the past year.

In his closing speech, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sirte Oil Company dedicated this success to the National Oil Corporation and said that only with the concerted efforts and integration between the General Administration of Inspection and Measurement and the Technical, Engineering and Projects Sector of the Sirte Company that raised the standard to this level.
